Hollis Delivers Tethered Power System for UAS App
Building upon its experience in military power systems, Hollis Controls has delivered a tethered power system that provides unlimited flight time within the range of the tether. The system generates a high DC voltage from an AC power source on the ground and sends it up the tether to the UAS where the high voltage is converted back to the required operating voltage(s). The system is optimized to reduce the weight of the tether and any inefficiencies in voltage conversion. The airborne portion of the power system can weigh less than the batteries it replaces.
